Dargate co-owner Dave Zivko said many of the antiques, oil paintings, 18th and 19th century furniture, jewelry and clocks came from an “important Sewickley, Pa., estate. That’s all I can say, according to the lawyers,” Zivko said.

Fine Art by artists Charles Addams, Rudolf Bonnet, Robert Rauschenberg, Ossip Zadkine, William Gear and Zao Wou-Ki among many others will be sold. Of particular interest, according to Zivko, is an early Rudolf Bonnet painting (Dutch/Balinese, 1895-1978).

In 1920, Bonnet journeyed to Italy with his parents, during which time he produced a number of drawings of people, village scenes and landscapes. Before moving to Bali for most of the rest of his life, where he became a popular artist, Bonnet used many of those earlier drawings to finance his move to the Republic of Indonesia.

Despite the deuteriation of the relationship between the Netherlands and the Republic of Indonesia, Bonnet – a favorite of President Sukarno, who had collected 14 of his paintings – was able to stay on the island. In 1957, however, he was expelled from the country after he refused to finish a portrait of then President Suharto. He returned to the island 15 years later.

In addition to the Bonnet, a select collection of African Art – comprised of 143 pieces – will be sold as one lot. Said to date back to at least the mid-19th century, the lot is expected to bring $100,000-$200,000.
