‘There she is Miss America;’ pageant celebrates 100 years |

. . .and then there were two. Standing as close as their cotillion-style gowns would allow, anxiously clinging to each other. In just a few moments, one would be smiling through her tears, confident that she would be called upon if the other was unable to fulfill her duties. As for the other, she would soon be crying despite her smile as the emcee belted out, “There she is, Miss America.” |
