Patrick, a reader from New York called with an interesting story.

Patrick sets up during Brimfield at Heart-O-The Mart. For years he has set up next to Bob who lives in Nova Scotia. The men have become friends over the years and share antiquing stories when they meet up in Brimfield a few times each year. This year Bob had a story he wanted to share with everyone.

Last fall Bob was set up at a small indoor show in New Hampshire. One of the many items he had for sale was a wooden box, about the size of a jewelry box. A woman came into his booth with her family. She saw the box and instantly became emotional. She asked Bob to look in the box and see if there was a prayer in pencil underneath the first tray of wood. Bob did so, and there was a prayer.

The woman was originally from London and when she was a young girl during World War II her family had to leave their home quickly and they left behind all of their possessions, including a small wooden box, which the girl’s grandmother had made for her. This was that box, which the woman had last seen in her London bedroom when she was 5 years old.

Bob gave her the box.
