| A Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Garage Sale Find |
Last month my best friend found a Mary Poppins soundtrack record for me at a garage sale with a 10-cent sticker price. Knowing that that was one of my all-time favorite movies of my childhood, she quickly snatched it up and called to tell me about her exciting find.
I believe Mary Poppins was made for the dreamers among us – those who refuse to give up their imagination and sense of adventure and zest for life in order to cave in to society’s harsh demands and insistences that one must grow up and act responsibly, investing one’s hard-earned pay prudently and frugally in a bank – to be specific, the Dawes, Tomes, Mousely, Grubbs Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. (Collectors are neither prudent nor frugal, if I'm any indication.)

I’m toying with the idea of decorating my office at work with various records. Inspired by a record-shop scene in the 1980s cult classic Pretty In Pink, I would like to eventually display them all over the walls. At this point, I am faced with the decision, am I collecting these to be more of a decorator’s statement or as strictly collectibles? What do you think I should do with them? |

| That movies alright, I do have fun trying to say the supercali whatever thing. Personally, I'm a fan of Jaws. If you've watched the first three movies, you'll be really shocked about the last movie called jaws revenge, the fourth movie. |

| The most fun I have in collecting is also using stuff in off-beat ways! For instance I love the Beatles and even though I don't really collect a lot of their stuff, mostly bits and pieces, my favorite and most eye-catching item is a Beatles Purse I have. It's made from the actual record album -- dozens of folks stop me everytime I use it.

| Hi All......decorating with vintage record albums can be easy, if you use those single-side frame pieces that can be bought at most craft stores. You can buy each of the four sides separately, in the length needed. They come with little pieces of metal that act as back-springs, so as to mount a stetched-canvas or canvas-board piece without any glue, nailing, etc. Tthis way you don't have to mame the album cover or record in any way. The last time I bought some they only came in silver, but they may have more types now. Also, I believe that the Restoration Hardware catalog sells (or at least used to sell) frames especially for album covers. I never bought one of those, so I have no idea how the mounting works with them, but I would imagine that it is done without marring the ablum cover also. |
